Cyberscape is a world parallel to our own: a digital mirror of Virtua City, entirely online via virtual reality.
Created on the 25th anniversary of Virtua City's inception, Cyberscape is a virtual realm intended to further enhance the lives of its citizens. Although designed to perfectly mimic the layout of its real-world inspiration, the lack of physical limitations in a digital space has allowed Cyberscape to become something far more fantastical than anything once thought possible, even by modern computing standards.
Every citizen is provided with a device to connect to Cyberscape, and users may travel in and out of the digital realm at their leisure. It has become deeply intertwined with life in Virtua City, and most people access it daily for both work and entertainment purposes. It is so popular, in fact, that the government created an advertising campaign to remind citizens that they must return to reality to attend to the needs of their physical bodies, and "digital addiction" is an increasingly prominent issue the city must grapple.
Who you are in Cyberscape is up to you. Avatars are free to explore the vast digital world and interact with other avatars in real time. Unlike the real world, there are no limits in Cyberscape. Level up your avatar to unlock otherworldly abilities: flight, water breathing, teleportation. Anything is possible in the computerized version of reality.
Although used extensively by the citizens of Virtua City and maintained by the best engineers in the world, Cyberscape has seen increasing instances of glitches, both benign and dangerous; some glitches have even evolved the ability to pass through the barrier between Cyberscape and the real world.
As dependance upon Cyberscape is solidified in the culture of Virtua City, the blight of glitches may threaten the future of the digital realm, and even the city itself.
